POSTCARD FROM CAPRI

Capri

Italy is always a good idea, especially the Amalfi Coast.

I traveled to the farthest corners of the world, but I always skipped the Amalfi Coast, which was so close to me, because I thought I would go there someday anyway. However, that day never seemed to come.

Who could say no to three wonderful days on an island with ice-cold Italian wines, delicious pastas, gelaterias just when you need them, a stunning view, and the warm Italian people?

I had never been to Capri before. I always told myself that if I went there, it would be for a romantic getaway, and I kept postponing it. I never found the opportunity because of my other travels until a three-day window appeared. Without a second thought, I packed my bags and set off alone.

YOUR LATEST DESTINATION?

Capri, Italy

TELL US ABOUT THE STAY? WHERE AND HOW WAS IT?

The island of Capri is divided into two regions: Anacapri and Capri.

Capri is where all the action is. It's a place where you can shop until you drop, dine at fantastic restaurants, socialize at its bars, and never have a chance to get bored.

On the other hand, Anacapri, perched atop the mountain, offers a different world with its stunning views, calm atmosphere, and balanced pace.

I stayed at the Caesar Augustus Hotel in Anacapri. As soon as you arrive in the port of Capri, look up towards the sky and the great spur of rock towering some 300 meters above the sea. It's here that you'll find Hotel Caesar Augustus.

It is definitely a honeymoon hotel!

Next time, my choice would be the Hotel La Palma, located right in the midst of all the hustle and bustle.

If you enjoy shopping like I do, it takes time to grab a taxi with all those bags and head up to Anacapri. La Palma is right in the heart of all that chaos and is a wonderfully classy hotel. Plus, you can easily have your shopping sent directly to your room.

ANY GREAT FINDS FROM THAT LAND?

Capri is famous for its authentic Mediterranean coral. And the best store is Costanza Fiore. It's a classic.

You can easily get lost in the amazing coral jewelry there. I'm sure you'll find something to your taste. Who doesn't love a good piece of jewelry?

YOUR PLAYLIST OR FAVORITE SONG ON REPEAT?

Jamiroquai - Corner of the earth

Go up to the Capri rooftop, grab a good Prosecco in hand, and let this song be in your ears.

MUST VISIT?

All the local pottery makers.
All the jewelers selling coral.
For a fantastic view, head to Anacapri.
It might sound cliché, but it's worth seeing the Dior Coffee and the Il Riccio restaurant downstairs.
Capri Palace Hotel
Capri Rooftop
And all the side streets in Capri.

GREAT FOOD? WHERE?

The island boasts many famous restaurants, with Aurora in Capri being the best. They have incredibly thin pizzas unlike anywhere else in the world, and their pastas are exceptional too.

WHAT DID YOU PACK?

Lots of intricately embroidered tablecloths, wonderful Italian linen clothing, and decorative items.

WOULD YOU GO BACK? WHY?

Why not, if I have the time again?

I spend every summer for three months on a boat in the Greek islands. This year, I'll continue this tradition. My first stop is Santorini.
